Makes: 6 servings
  • 1 lb (450 g) green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can (10 oz /284 ml) mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) Adobo Sauce Mix
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp (45 ml) sliced or slivered almonds
  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) lemon, or lime juice juice
  • Sea Salt (Grinder), to taste, optional


  • Rinse trimmed green beans in cold water, and place in a Rectangular Steamer, season with a pinch of Sea Salt if desired.
  • Microwave in Steamer with lid, on high for 2–4 minutes or until tender (microwaves may vary).
  • Immediately plunge into ice water to stop cooking and preserve bright green colour. Place in mixing bowl. (You can make ahead to this point.)
  • Immediately before serving, add mandarins, Adobo Seasoning, olive oil, almonds, and lemon juice to beans; gently toss to coat. Season to taste.
